FCharts Data Importing Tutorials

These pages show a step-by-step guide for first time users.
The examples given are for the ASX (Australian Stock Exchange)

Example Two
In this example we will add one ticker and download some data for it.
First, enter TLS into the code box on the left-hand side of the main chart:

When you press ENTER (or click Show) it will ask if you want to add that ticker to your database. Click YES.
It will try to show a chart, but of course you don't have any data yet. So, click the 'Import Export' button and select the 'BackFill' tab.

Because TLS is on the ASX, you'll need to put .AX into the Market Suffix box.
If you used a US stock (e.g. MSFT) you would leave this blank. You can see a complete list of market codes here

Now click the 'Start Date'. When the form comes up, change it to a date approximately a year ago.

Now click 'Start Download'. The program will retrieve and import data for every known ticker in your database.

Provided the download was successful, you should now be looking at a 6-month chart for TLS.

That's it for example two. Click here for the next example.

(By the way, if you're with Comsec you can download suitable end-of-day prices through their website. See this page for instructions.)
