Future upgrades to my software

All my programs were originally written in Visual Studio 6, a development environment which has served me well but which is now getting long in the tooth. Therefore, I've been converting them to Visual Studio 2008, which is the latest incarnation.

Not all will be converted - and that's what this page is about.

App Intention Progress Comments
BookDB3 Convert to VS2008 Beta version nearly ready Databases all converted to XML, unlimited authors per book, unlimited categories, enter books with title only (no author, publisher, category required), all forms resizeable.
FCharts2 Convert to VS2008 Early days yet FCharts is currently very fast and very stable, and therefore I will not be tackling this particular conversion until I've done all my other apps. Having said that, I've already written the data importer, price database and drawing code for several common charts.
HamTime2 Convert to VS2008 Done Debugging the beta
Installer Will not be updated N/A I wrote this installer to download and set up the ancilliary files needed to run Visual Studio 6 programs on Windows 95 and later. Now that the Microsoft CLR includes all necessary runtime files, this program is no longer relevant.
RMP3 Convert to VS2008 Working Already done & running fine. Beta version available
Sonar3 Convert to VS2008 Done Changes detailed on the Sonar 3 page. Program available here.
Track-a-Minute Convert to VS2008 Beta version nearly ready Up and running. Already improved over old 0.0.25 VS6 beta. in fact, you can download a beta of the new version here
yBook2 Convert to VS2008 Conversion in progress Masses of optimised font-drawing code make this one a tough conversion.
yCopy2 Convert to VS2008 Done, using it I never released the VB6 version of yCopy (a rewrite of ySync), and I probably won't release yCopy2 either
yGen2 Convert to VS2008 Done, using it. Up and running. If you want to play with the pre-release beta, it's online here, although the web pages aren't finished yet.
yLaunch2 Convert to VS2008 Up and running. If you really want to see the pre-release beta, it's online here, although the pages aren't finished either.
yLend2 Convert to VS2008 99% done Up and running. Debugging the beta.
yMail2 Convert to VS2008 Done I've finished converting this one, and I've been using it as my primary email client for some months now. I'll make a Beta available when I'm ready.
yPlay Convert to VS2008 Not started I'll be converting it, but not yet.
yRead Convert to VS2008 Working yRead3 is up and running, and you can download a beta here. (Requires the .NET 3.0 runtimes because of the speech synthesis.)
yRoute Leave in VS6 N/A Flight Sim X (FSX) is out now, and I'm not updating to support it.
yTimer2 Convert to VS2008 Not started VS2008 + control collections = a nightmare.
yWriter5 Convert to VS2008 In progress I need to get this one finished in time to write my next novel. It's getting there ...

Please note - to run apps written in VS2008 users will need to download the appropriate Common Language Runtime (CLR) from Microsoft. It's a free download.

Linux users can install and run the same programs using Wine.
